Five residents die in Calamba City fire

LAGUNA -- Five persons including an 83-year-old woman died during a fire that gutted a house at Sitio Majada in Brgy. Canlubangm Calamba City on Friday morning, Nov. 18.

The fatalities were identified as Leticia Yutan Corral, 83, widow; James Darwin Corral Delluson, 22; Ryan James Guttierez, 18; Kenneth Buebo, 24, single, jobless, and a still an unidentified one.

All were residents of Block 22, Lot 20, GK Village in the said sitio.

Based on the barangay officials’ report to the Calamba City Bureau of Fire Protection, around 11 a.m. when the fire broke out following a firework explosion.

In a matter of 20 minutes, the BFP-Calamba raised the fire to 2nd alarm before it was finally controlled at around 12:03 p.m.

The victims were found while the arson operatives were conducting search.

Based on initial investigation, there was an illegal manufacturing of firecrackers in the said house.
