DSWD extends over P400-M worth of relief aid to severe tropical storm Paeng victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has so far provided over P400 million worth of food and non-food items as resource augmentation to local government units (LGUs) that have been affected by severe tropical storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae).
Based on the report of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center, an estimated P409 million worth of assistance was already distributed to the storm-hit areas, as of 6 a.m., Friday, Nov. 18.
Of the total humanitarian aid provided, approximately P331.6 million came from the DSWD, P75.28 million from local government units, P350,000 from non-government organizations, and P1.76 million from other partners.
Paeng has affected 1,448,253 families or 5,836,673 individuals.
DSWD said there are still 3,879 families or 17,560 persons currently taking temporary shelter in 110 evacuation centers in the National Capital Region, Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, Region 4-A, Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, Region 9, Region 12, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Meanwhile, there are 63,403 families or 316,672 persons temporarily staying with their relatives or friends in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 1, Region 2, Region 4-A, Region 6, Region 9, and BARMM.
Furthermore, DSWD said 67,223 houses were damaged due to the onslaught of Paeng, of which, 6,463 were totally damaged and 60,760 were partially damaged.
DSWD has over P1.056-billion worth of relief resources, comprising P91 million standby funds or quick response fund and P965-million worth of stockpiles that are readily available for distribution.
Severe tropical storm Paeng hit the Philippines on Oct. 29, with its violent winds and heavy rains causing flooding, landslides, and displacement in several parts of the country.
