Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna led the distribution of financial assistance to several families affected by multiple fire incidents in the city on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

At least 74 families from Districts 1, 2, 3, and 5 have been given a total of P740,000 during the distribution held at Bulwagang Villegas on Wednesday.
The fire incidents from the five barangays all happened in the month of November.
"Nakikiramay po ang buong Lungsod ng Maynila sa pinagdaanan po ninyo (The entire City of Manila sympathizes with what you have gone through),” said Lacuna.
"Alam ko po yung maibibigay namin na tulong sa inyo ay hindi kasagutan sa inyong magiging problema patungkol sa babalikan na tahanan, pero sana gaya ng sabi ni Yul, makapagsimula kayong muli (I know that the help we can give you is not the answer to your problem of having no home to return to, but I hope, as Yul said, you can start over),” she added.
Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, who was also at the distribution, empathized with the victims and shared his past experience of being a victim of fire.
"Napakasakit. Biruin niyo lahat ng napagsikapan natin at pinagpawisan natin biglang mawawala ng ilang oras (It hurts so much. Everything we've worked hard for will disappear a short time),” he said.
