Matteo Guidicelli on Sarah Geronimo: 'She went against all odds for me'

Matteo Guidicelli recently paid tribute to his wife, actress-singer Sarah Geronimo.

He did so during a recent episode of the variety show "Tropang LOL," where he's one of the hosts.

In the show's "H.O.P.E." segment, Matteo was able to relate to the story of ex-couple of 10 years, Lionel and Maricar, who both fought for their relationship despite the disapproval of Lionel's family.

Matteo commented: "That’s the beauty of love. Sa pag-ibig, mari-realize talaga natin na hindi tayo perfect as an individual. Pero kapag dumating ang tao na talagang swak sa ‘yo — parang puzzle lang yang pag-ibig, eh — dapat magtulungan kayo para maging buo at maging isa kayo..."

He then noted how he really put so much respect for people that goes against all odds.

"Can I add something also - very, very nice to that? I really put so much respect on people like you; people like you also, brother, that goes against all odds. This is a true example of people, like you, that are so brave," he said.

Then added: "And I'd like to also give it up to my wife, that she went against all odds for me."

According to him, at the end of the day, love is a decision between two individuals.

"Not about the people in the family and the people around them anymore, but it's about you and your partner," he reiterated.

He advised the former couple to always put God at the center of their relationship and always respect each other.

"Kung meant to be yan, darating ang panahon na maging kayo ulit."

Recall that in February 2020 when the 32-year-old Matteo and 34-year-old Sarah tied the knot in a "secret wedding."

More than two years after the controversial event, Sarah extended her apology to her family via social media.
