Iloilo City budget for 2023 reduced to P2.95 billion


ILOILO CITY -- The Iloilo City council has unanimously approved the P2.95 billion proposed budget for next year during its session on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

The budget is about four percent lower than the current P3.083 billion budget of Mayor Jerry Treñas this year.

The reduction of P133 million was attributed to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic as the National Tax Allotment (NTA) to local government units (LGUs) have been reduced.

The general public services consisting of planning, financial, administrative, legal and legislative services got the biggest allocation of P1.4 billion..

The second biggest allocation is for the city government’s social services with P666.8 million in funding.

This includes education, health, public safety, and protection of the marginalized sectors.

The city’s economic services including programs employment, livelihood and agriculture have a budget of P437.7 million.

The other services of the city government have been allotted with a budget of P415.1-million.
