Drug detainee escapes from Negros Oriental jail

BACOLOD CITY – A drug detainee escaped from the custodial facility of Bacong Municipal Police Station on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

John Mike Olitres alias ‘Tata Vendetta’ is now the subject of massive manhunt operation by the Negros Oriental police.

In a video on Facebook, Maj. Fortunato Villafuerte, chief of Bacong police, is urging Olitres to surrender for his safety.

Villafuerte said that Olitres escaped from the facility around 3:30 a.m. He was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Oct. 8.

No details were available as to how Olitres was able to escape from the jail.

The suspect’s family also encouraged him to surrender, as authorities are willing to help him.

Brig. Gen. Rhoderick Augustus Alba, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas, is appealing to the public, especially the Negrenses to directly coordinate with authorities if ever they have any knowledge on the whereabouts of Olitres.

He said the incident will be investigated, so the accountable person/s will be made to answer and no similar incident will happen again.
