The Department of Public Works andHighways (DPWH) has completed a flood control project at the Porac River, which it said, will protect the low-lying areas in Floridablanca, Pampanga from flooding during heavy rains.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said the 171.3-lineal meter revetment wall along the Paguiruan Section of Porac River in Floridablanca town is connected with the flood control structures previously constructed in 2019 and 2022.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan explained that the entire agricultural town of Floridablanca, which is also the second largest rice producer in Pampanga, has been identified as one of the flood-prone areas in the province.
With the completion of the projects, Bonoan said that it has become the continuous provision flood control structure long-term solution in reducing damages in both residential zones and farmlands of the town.
The DPWH noted that the project was completed in the amount of P19.59 million with funding sourced from the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA). (Chito A. Chavez)
