Body of man who fell into Biñan river during 'Paeng' onslaught found after 18 days

BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – After 18 days of search and retrieval operations, responders finally found one of two individuals who fell into the river during the onslaught of severe tropical storm Paeng.

In an official statement posted on Facebook on Thursday, Nov. 17, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) said the body of the man was found beneath a log in the part of the river along Barangay Sto. Niño.

The retrieval operation was delicate as the body of the 25-year-old man was already in a state of decomposition.

The child who fell into the river with the victim, however, has yet to be found.

A CDRRMO representative told the Manila Bulletin that the missing child is a relative of the man and is around five to six years old.
