A total of 308 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantage/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Parañaque completed their 14-day stint and were given certificates of completion during the culminating activity at the Parañaque Sports Complex on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Parañaque 1st District Rep. Edwin Olivarez said the 308 beneficiaries were the 6th batch of residents who were given the chance to work for 14 days. They were tasked to help teachers and principals in cleaning classrooms and other facilities, as well as in tending in-campus fruit and vegetable gardens.
He said they were among the 1,874 city residents who have been given temporary jobs and paid with P8,000 since the start of the program in September.
“Tayo po ay natutuwa at tuloy-tuloy ang tiwala sa atin ng DOLE na mabigyan natin ng pagkakataong magkaroon ng pansamantalang trabaho ang ating mga kababayan,”(We are happy with the continued trust given to us by DOLE in helping our residents to have temporary jobs), Cong. Olivarez said.
Olivarez said the program is a big help to residents especially those who are unemployed.
