Women lawmakers group graces Palace, officers sworn in


Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez led on Tuesday, Nov. 15 the oath-taking of members of the Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Inc. (AWLFI) in Malacañang.

Rep. Romualdez, wife of House Speaker and Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualde, sits as chairperson of the AWLFI.


"To my fellow AWLFI officers, may this event intensify our commitment to advocate for the enactment of legislations that will further recognize and promote the rights of all Filipino women as well as gender equality," said the lady solon, who chairs the House Committee on Accounts.


"I am fully confident that through our joint efforts, we can achieve a long-lasting progress for the betterment of our country," she added.


The AWLFI is omposed of all the lady legislators in the House of Representatives or lower chamber. Since 2010, it has dedicated itself to strengthening the position of women and the welfare of children in society.


Rep. Romualdez acknowledged the achievements of the foundation in ensuring that the protection and promotion of the rights of women are not overlooked. She vowed to continue the group’s endeavors to advance the legislative agenda of all women.


In attendance during the oath-taking were President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., Secretary Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo, and AWLFI President and Bulacan 4th district Rep. Linabelle Villarica.
