Several parts of the country will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

PAGASA said the shear line—an area where the cold and warm winds meet—may affect Aurora, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the northern portion of Quezon.

Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen may also have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ—a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast hemispheres converge.

PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the shear line and ITCZ to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms because of the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

The public is also advised to be vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said that they have not observed any tropical cyclone or low pressure area near or within the country’s area of responsibility on Wednesday morning.
