2 motorcycle theft suspects arrested in Manila


Two motorcycle theft suspects were arrested during a follow-up operation conducted by the Las Piñas police operatives on Monday, Nov. 14.

Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, identified the suspects as Jefferson Lumawag, 29, and Manuelito Mendoza, 22, both students and residents of Manila.

Santos said the suspects were arrested around 8:00 p.m. at Everwin Hotel, Malate, Manila.

He said the victim, Jomar Borce, 27, reported that his motorcycle was stolen while parked at Skylark St., Goodyear Park, Almanza Uno, Las Piñas.

Borce told police that a concerned citizen contacted him claiming that his missing motorcycle was seen parked at Everwin Hotel in Malate, Manila.

The city police chief said a follow-up operation was immediately conducted by members of the Intelligence/Carnapping Unit in coordination with the Manila Police District (MPD) Sub-Station 9 Malate police leading to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen vehicle.

Santos said the suspects are now detained at the police custodial facility and were charged in violation of RA 2016 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016).
