With still two months before the end of the year, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has already exceeded its revenue collection target for 2022.
In a statement, BOC acting Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said the revenue collection figure of P745.50 billion from January to Nov. 11 this year was based on the preliminary report of all 17 collection districts of the bureau.
The BOC has set the revenue collection target of P721.52 billion for this year but as of Nov. 11, it said over P745.50 billion was already collected, or a 3.27 percent surplus that translates to P23.98 billion.
He disclosed that all BOC collection districts also reached their respective collection targets.
"This year's revenue collection performance historically marks the highest revenue collection of the agency to date," said Ruiz.
He attributed it to what he described as the stringent implementation of his priority programs to curb smuggling and corruption, optimize revenue collection, and digitalize and enhance customs operations.
