The current administration is expected to present the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023 to 2028 next month.
Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan , who also heads the National Development and Economic Authority (NEDA), announced this on Tuesday, Nov. 15, after a meeting with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
"It will come out next month and we already briefed him on what the major elements... the key elements of those plans, and he provided comments, suggestions moving forward," Balisacan said.
The Cabinet official said the plan also involves actionable strategies to develop the domestic market considering its vast potential for both foreign and local investors, a commitment mentioned by Marcos in his meeting with global leaders at the recently-concluded Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
"He emphasized that the plan should address the concerns of the development... of the local markets. Tama naman (It's actually right), ensuring that they receive the same assistance," Balisacan pointed out.
Balisacan said this is the first time the development plan is being presented before the start of the first full year of the President.
"Ang nangyari noon (What was happening before) is all the ships are already in the middle of the sea. They are casting their own nets na. Ngayon nandiyan (Now, it's there). So there is now greater opportunity and for coordination ng (of) agencies," Balisacan stressed.
The NEDA chief expressed assurance that a framework for regular monitoring and evaluation of the plan's implementation is also in place.
"So every year, we will provide a report to the President and how the plan is being implemented and the performance and the various metrics or targets that have indicated in the plan," he said.
