K-pop group Girls' Generation's Taeyeon tests positive for Covid-19
K-pop group Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon tested positive for Covid-19 as South Korea’s new daily cases surged to more than 70,000.
On Nov. 14, SM Entertainment announced Taeyeon’s condition.

“Taeyeon was diagnosed with COVID-19 today (Nov. 14),” the agency said.
It added, “A positive result came out of the self-test kit conducted after experiencing symptoms of abnormal physical condition the other day, and a rapid antigen test was conducted immediately this morning, and the final confirmation was received.”
“Taeyeon has suspended all schedules and is in self-quarantine according to the guidelines of the quarantine authorities. We will continue to strictly follow the quarantine guidelines and put the health and safety of our artists first so that we can focus on treatment and recovery,” SM Entertainment said.
South Korean health authorities reported that 72,883 new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Nov. .15, an increase of 206 percent from 23,765 new cases on Nov. 14.
The total is the highest in two months when South Korea recorded 71,444 new Covid-19 cases on Sept. 15, Yonhap News reported.
From Nov. 9 to 15, South Korea had a daily average of 53,112 new Covid-19 cases. As of Nov. 15, South Korea has 26.29 million total confirmed Covid-19 cases since 2020.
