'Immediate relief': House donates P5M to Navotas fire victims
The House of Representatives led by Speaker Martin Romualdez has donated P5 million to the victims of the huge fire that struck Barangay Bagumabayan North, Navotas City on Monday night, Nov. 14.

Romualdez personally handed over the money to Navotas City lone district Rep. Toby Tiangco on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 15 at the Daniel Romualdez Hall during the latter's belated birthday party for House media.
"This is a way of creating an effort to provide immediate relief. Napaka-importante kapag may isang sakuna o kalamidad...agad-agad dapat nandun po tayo (It's very important to respond immediately whenever there's a calamity). Our hearts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in Navotas," said Romualdez, who represents the 1st district of Leyte.
The P5-million donation was raised through contributions among the House members.
Tiangco thanked the Speaker for spearheading the impromptu donation drive. "We really appreciate it...napakalaking tulong po ng ibibigay niyo (the assistance that you'll give is a very big help). Speaker, thank you very much," the Navotas solon said.
At least five people perished in Navotas blaze, which also rendered over 400 families homeless.
