Davao del Sur's most wanted involved in multi-million peso investment scam nabbed in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY – Davao del Sur’s most wanted person involved in a multi-million investment scam was arrested in Brgy. 84, Villa Rita Subdivision, San Jose District here on Monday, Nov. 14.

The suspect was identified as Garry Simbahon, 44, who has a pending warrant of arrest for estafa.

The warrant dated April 22, 2022, was issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 18 in Digos City, Davao del Sur with a recommended bail of P120,000.

Simbahon, alias Edwin Fernandez, is a leader of an investment scam syndicate that has stashed away hundreds of millions pesos in scam in Davao and abroad.

He had been reportedly hiding in Bohol, however, he was tracked by the Tacloban City Drug Enforcement Unit and Tacloban City Intelligence Unit in his residence.

The accused was placed under the custody of the Tacloban City Police Office for documentation and disposition before his turnover to the court of origin.
