Through its newest program, the Italian brand ‘offers unlimited refresh and repair’ on its handbags
It was during the pandemic that we witness the rise of celebrities and fashionistas opening their closets to showcase their extensive collection of designer goods. While we drool over their statement shoes, fresh-from-runways-past clothes, and favorite jewelry items, we also got to learn more about how to properly take care of these luxurious—and high-maintenance—pieces, especially handbags. This time, one label is changing the game by offering a new lifetime warranty on certain iconic bags.

Aiming to make your bag a forever staple in your closet is the Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta. To make it a guarantee, it recently launched its latest initiative, which is the Certificate of Craft program. Through it, the label aims to highlight “value over volume” by offering “unlimited refresh and repair” for any handbags created by the maison.
"The certificate of craft is born out of a desire to offer our clients a superior service of long-term preservation of their products," Bottega Veneta CEO Leo Rongone said in a statement. "We focus on responsible growth. Our intention is to maintain products in use for longer, reducing the need for replacement.”
Apart from refurbishing damages to handbags, the programs can also allow owners to have their bags “replaced free of charge in some cases,” according to WWD. Bottega Veneta’s latest move aims to encourage fashion savants to shop fewer and select high-quality items instead of fast fashion pieces.
“Our vision remains consistent with the one of our founders,” Rongone added. “They wanted Bottega Veneta to represent the most elevated and refined form of luxury. We count days, not hours, to make our products. They are designed to last forever.”
As per Highsnobiety and Forbes, the new program begins with “a selection of our iconic bags.” The Certificate of Craft program is currently applied to new purchases, with each item “accompanied by a physical and digital card with a serial number corresponding to the bag.” Manila Bulletin Lifestyle will update this story on how the program will be applied to the Philippines.
With Bottega Veneta’s latest move, it looks like handbags will be one of the perfect items passed on to future wearers much like fine jewelry and watches.
