The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), led by QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, condoled with the family of the police officer killed in a shootout in Barangay 177, Caloocan City on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The QCPD identified the deceased cop as Cpl. Noel Ogano of the QCPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.

The entire Team QCPD condoles with the bereaved family of P/Cpl Ogano and we are ready to provide any assistance we can)," the police chief said.
The QCPD said Ogano was killed in a shootout with the suspect, Martin Nuñez, 42, a former Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) cadet, and a resident of Barangay 177, Caloocan City.
Police said that Nuñez was allegedly involved in an indiscriminate firing incident at around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday along Bougainvilla St., Maligaya Park, Subd., Brgy. Pasong Putik Proper, Quezon City, causing alarm to the residents.
After receiving a report about the incident, operatives of the QCPD Pasong Putik Station (PS 1) and SWAT Team, in coordination with Caloocan City Police Station, immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation against the suspect and located him in his residence in Barangay 177.
According to the QCPD, Nuñez suddenly fired his gun towards the cops who were asking him to voluntarily surrender. A firefight ensued.
Nuñez and Ogano died in the shootout.
QCPD SWAT team leader Lt. Col. Jerry Castillo was also injured.
The police chief lauded Ogano for his bravery and sacrifice while performing his duty.
