K-pop acts win at 2022 MTV EMAs: BTS, BLACKPINK, Lisa, Seventeen, TXT


K-pop acts won at the 2022 MTV EMAs held on Nov. 13 at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany.

This year’s awards ceremony was hosted by Rita Ora and Taika Waititi.

BTS won the Biggest Fans award, edging out Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK won Best Metaverse Performance for “BLACKPINK The Virtual | PUBG.” Other nominees were BTS, “Minecraft”; Charli XCX, “Roblox”; Justin Bieber, “An Interactive Virtual Experience | Wave”; and Twenty One Pilots, "Roblox presents Twenty One Pilots Concert Experience."

“We are so grateful to have won the EMA Best Metaverse Performance this year,” said BLACKPINK’s Jennie in a video.

In addition, BLACKPINK’s Lisa bagged Best K-pop over BLACKPINK, BTS, ITZY, Seventeen and TWICE.

“I’m so honored to have won the EMA Best K-pop this year,” said Lisa in a video to accept the award.

K-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) won the Best Asia Act. Other nominees in the category were Maymay Entrata (Philippines), Niki (Indonesia), Silvy (Thailand) and The Rampage from EXILE TRIBE (Japan).

K-pop group Seventeen bagged Best Push, edging out Nessa Barrett, Mae Muller, GAYLE, Shenseea, Omar Apollo, Wet Leg, Muni Long, Doechii, Saucy Santana, Stephen Sanchez and JVKE.

Seventeen also won Best New over Baby Keem, Dove Cameron, GAYLE, Stephen Sanchez and Tems.
