BACOLOD CITY – A barangay tanod or watchman died in another shooting incident here on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The victim was identified as Nilo Payo, 59, of Barangay 34 here, also a tricycle driver.
Payo was killed two days after Bryan Diaz, 41, of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental, by an unidentified person on a motorcycle in front of his boarding house in Barangay Estefania here on Nov. 11.
Major Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said that Payo was fishing at the Reclamation area in Barangay 35 when an unidentified lone gunman approached and shot him several times.
Sarona said the victim was found lifeless on the seashore, with bullet wounds in the head, body, and hand.
He said that it is possible that the perpetrator tailed the victim as he would go fishing in the area during his free time.
Sarona said that Payo was jailed for murder and released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City through parole in 2007.
He said they are looking into grudges or revenge as possible motives in the incident considering the victim’s previous case.
Sarona also said that they received information that the victim had an altercation with someone prior to his death.
He said they already have persons of interest. He said that four persons were believed to be behind the killing.
