Electrician stabbed dead in Negros Occidental


BACOLOD CITY -- An electrician was stabbed to death by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Odiong, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The victim was identified as Roel Barroquiña, 59, of Barangay 6.

Maj. Joevito Bose, chief of police in Moises Padilla, said that Barroquiña was on board his motorcycle on his way home when he was intercepted by the suspect.

A confrontation then followed, resulting in a stabbing incident.

Barroquiña suffered multiple stab wounds and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Bose said they already have a lead on the identity of the suspect.

Police are eyeing the motive in the incident to be work-related.

Bose said the victim had been receiving threats since August, based on the text messages on his cellular phone and the statement of his wife.
