DBM releases over P8.5B for bonus, cash gifts of PNP personnel

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released over P8.5 billion for the year-end bonus and cash gift of more than 226,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PNP chief Gen Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said the year-end bonus is equivalent to one-month base pay while the cash gift is P5,000.

“The funds are from the regular PNP Appropriations programmed in the agency’s 2022 budget," said Azurin, adding that a total of 226,515 PNP personnel will receive them.

Police Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, director of PNP Finance Service, said the bonus and the cash gift will be released to PNP personnel on Nov. 15 through their Landbank ATM Payroll Accounts.

Masauding, however, clarified that the bonus will be subjected to tax based on the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Law or T.R.A.I.N. Law (Republic Act 10893) and BIR Regulations 8-2018 and 11-2018.

The tac regulation affects PNP personnel with Salary grade 18 Step 1.

"Moreover, all affected PNP personnel who reached the minimum net take home pay are also advised to settle thru over-the-counter payment scheme of their unpaid loan/s for November and December 2022 to avoid incurring penalties and other charges," said Masauding.

Azurin, on the other hand, said PNP personnel who were administratively charged and were found guilty by the final and executory judgement shall not be entitled to receive the year-end bonus and cash gift.
