A man died while two others were injured in a road accident involving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Barangay Tinajeros, Malabon City on Sunday morning, Nov. 13.
Col. Amante Daro, Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) chief, identified the casualty as Roland Campaan, 47, a resident of Barangay Muzon, in the city.
The two injured victims were identified as John Robert Victorio, 33, and Wilmar Ballentos, 28, also both from Malabon.
According to the police, Micheal Kakutomo, 35, from Parañaque, was driving his Ford Territory SUV along the east lane of Gov Pascual Avenue, Brgy. Tinajeros at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle and hit Campaan who was walking along the road pavement.
The victim was declared dead on-the-spot due to a head injury, police said.
Kakutomo’s vehicle swerved to the opposite lane of the avenue and bumped the Isuzu Jitney vehicle which Ballentos was riding before it hit Victorio who was also walking along the street.
The SUV also bumped two motorcycles and a bicycle.
Ballentos and Victorio sustained minor injuries and were rushed by the Malabon Risk Reduction and Management Office to the Tondo Medical Center for treatment.
Kakutomo was placed under police custody and will be charged for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury and multiple damages to property, police said.
The incident is still under investigation.
