Manila Zoo no longer free, sets new reopening date

Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah "Honey" Lacuna-Pangan announced on Friday, Nov. 11, the Manila Zoo's admission rates and new reopening date.

According to Mayor Honey, the reopening of the Manila Zoo, formally known as Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, will be moved from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21 to give way for the final preparations needed.

“Sa pakiusap ng mga stall owners para lalo nila mapaganda at mapag handaan ang tuluyang pagbubukas ng Manila Zoo, minabuti natin na ipagpaliban muna ang pag bukas ng Manila Zoo from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21 (Due to the request of stall owners, so they could prepare better for the reopening of Manila Zoo, we will postpone the reopening of Manila Zoo from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21),” the mayor said in her social media address, The Capital Report.

Lacuna also presented the admission fees for the zoo visitors.

She said Manilans, senior citizens, and persons with disability (PWDs) will be given special discounts.

The admission fees are as follows:

Adult and child: P150 for Manilans and P300 for non-Manilans
Students: P100 for Manilans and P200 for non-Manilans
Senior citizens and PWD: 20 percent discount on prescribed fees
Children aged 2 years old and below may enter for free

Manila Zoo will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The cut-off for guest entries will be at 6 p.m.

Online registration and purchasing of tickets will be available starting Nov. 20, via manilazoo.ph.

The previous city administration under former mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso initiated the zoo's renovation project worth P1.7 billion last 2020.
