Lapid family appeals to public to not be distracted by Bantag's statements

The family of slain hard-hitting journalist, Pervical Mabasa, alias Percy Lapid, appealed to the public to not to be distracted by media statements by Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag, who was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing.

In a Facebook post, Roy Mabasa, Lapid's brother, said, "We appeal to the public to not be distracted by what might be diversionary tactics. Let’s focus on the proper investigation of the case."

"We demand that Mr. Bantag abide by the rule of law, follow the judicial process and present his side in the proper forum. We also challenge him to help convince his deputy, Jail Officer Zulueta, to come out of hiding and face the charges," he said.

He added, "As I’ve said before, we appreciate the hard work of the DOJ , NBI (National Bureau of Investigation] & PNP as well as the CHR and we will forever be indebted to the listeners of Ka Percy who has not left our side in our quest for justice."

Bantag alleged that convicted drug lord German Agojo is the boss of the self-confessed gunman Joel Escorial and alleged middleman Crisanto Villamor.
