Kevin Conroy, longtime voice of Batman, passes away

Hollywood is stunned following the death of well-loved American voice actor Kevin Conroy at 66.

Kevin, the iconic voice of DC Comics superhero Batman in various media for the past three decades, succumbed to cancer in New York.

Fellow voice actor, Diane Pershing - most famously the voice of Poison Ivy on "Batman: The Animated Series" - was among those who confirmed the passing of Kevin.

Diane wrote on Facebook on Nov. 11: "Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday."

According to her, Kevin had been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at conventions, to the joy of all of his fans.

"He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world," she said.

"Below are pictures of Kevin with Loren Lester who plays Robin another with me and and Tara Strong who is in the later episodes of Batman cartoons. And then finally, one of Kevin and me in front of the huge audiences we used to get when we did our panels. RIP, friend."

Loren, on the other hand, shared their photo on his Facebook feed, writing: "RIP my partner in crime (fighting.) Thank you, Kevin, for 30 years of laughs. “May the road rise to meet you…May god hold you in the hollow of his hand.” #batman #btas #robin #nightwing."

Meanwhile, Mark Richard Hamill, who voiced The Joker and Ferris Boyle in many other forms of Batman media, also paid tribute to Kevin.

On Instagram, he uploaded their picture together.

"Stunned by the loss of this brilliant actor. Words can't express my admiration and respect for the man. I loved him like a brother. #RIPKevinConroy," his caption read.
