Grade 2 student drowns in Cagayan

ALLACAPAN, Cagayan – A seven-year-old Grade 2 student drowned while harvesting clams in a creek in Barangay Burot here on Thursday, Nov. 10.

Police said the male victim was a resident of Barangay Dagupan, this town.

The victim was gathering "bennek" with four others when he disappeared. He did not know how to swim.

The incident was only reported to the police at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

Rescuers located the body of the victim before 3 p.m. He was taken to the Rural Health Unit where he was declared dead.
