Crime group member nabbed for theft, possession of hand grenade in Pasig City
A member of the Alex Rivera Criminal Group was arrested by police for theft and possession of a hand grenade on Friday, Nov. 11, in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
The Pasig City Police Station (CPS), headed by Chief-of-Police Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., identified the suspect as alias "JR," 22.
According to the police investigation, the suspect, along with his cohorts, reportedly stole a peso wifi machine worth P12,000, containing P1,000 worth of coins, from a house along Centennial 1-A, Nagpayong, Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City at 2 a.m. on Friday.
The victim and owner of the house, identified as alias “Charl,” 40, an encoder working at the Pasig City Hall, reported the incident to Sub-Station 5 of the Pasig CPS. The victim was also able to identify one of the burglars in his report to the authorities.
Operatives of Sub-Station 5 arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation on Friday afternoon.
Confiscated from the suspect was a single hand grenade retrieved from his pocket.
Upon further investigation, the police discovered the suspect was a “known notorious robber or snatcher in Barangay Pinagbuhatan and other neighboring barangays.”
The police also said the suspect has reportedly recruited bystanders and out-of-school youths to his criminal group.
The suspect is in the custody of the Pasig CPS.
He is facing charges for theft and violation of Republic Act 9516, pertaining to the "illegal or unlawful possession, manufacture, dealing in, acquisition or disposition of firearms, ammunition or explosives."
