7 passengers rescued from sunken boat in Cagayan

APARRI, Cagayan -- Seven passengers were rescued from a boat that sank on the Cagayan River in Barangay Macanaya here on Friday, Nov. 11.

A report from Col. Julio Gorospe Jr., officer-in-charge, Cagayan Police Provincial Office, identified the rescued as Rey Taguba, Ljay Ocampo, Ebo Persona, Jungie Paggabao, Fernando Leste, Reynante Villanueva, and Cassidy Leste.

However, one passenger was reported missing and is yet to be found. He was identified as Erold Leste.

All of them were residents of this town and were on their way to Barangay Punta here to attend the wake of a relative when their boat sank due to the strong current of the Cagayan River.

Search and rescue is ongoing for Erold.
