Trial for serious illegal detention filed by Vhong Navarro vs Deniece, Cedric ongoing
While TV host and comedian Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro is facing charges of rape and acts of lasciviousness filed by model Deniece Cornejo, the trial for the serious illegal detention case he filed against her and six others is still ongoing.
This was mentioned by Navarro’s lawyer after his bail hearing at the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69, which is handling the rape case.

“We are not finished with the serious illegal detention case. The trial is ongoing and we are hoping for the best results there,” said Alma Mallonga, Navarro’s legal counsel.
In 2014, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a case of serious illegal detention against Cornejo, Cedric Lee, Bernice Cua Lee, Simeon Palma Raz Jr., Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Sajed Fernandez Abuhijleh.
The case charged that the seven accused detained Navarro inside Cornejo’s condominium unit in Taguig on Jan. 22, 2014 where he was beaten up. The respondents allegedly demanded P2 million from Navarro.
The Court of Appeals (CA) recently denied Lee’s bid to dismiss the serious illegal detention case he is facing.
“There is no longer any immediate obstacle to our finishing the illegal detention case. It is the turn of the defense now. Actually na-cross examine na si Mr. Cedric Lee there (Actually Mr. Cedric Lee was already cross examined there). Only Miss Deniece Cornejo is left to testify in the serious illegal detention case. Let us see what happens,” said Mallonga.
