The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to get vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19 as several people are expected to hold gatherings in time for Christmas.

“Parating ang Pasko, maraming parties na pupuntahan, may mga gatherings na ang daming tao, reunion ng pamilya (Christmas is approaching and there will be several parties and gatherings that people will attend, family reunions), Christmas parties and all, we know that this kinds of event are high risks,” said DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire in a press briefing on Friday, Nov. 11.

“Kapag high risk na sinasabi natin, nandun ang mas mataas tyansa na ikaw ay magkakaroon ng sakit kung saka-sakali (When we say high risk, there is a higher chance that you will get sick),” she added.

Vergeire said that vaccines against Covid-19 are effective in protecting people.

This is important amid the easing of restrictions, particularly that the government approved the voluntary use of face masks both indoors and outdoors, she added.

“Gusto natin ipaalala sa ating kababayan (We want to remind our citizens), we strongly recommend that everybody gets vaccinated, receive their first booster and second doses para mas protektado kayo (so that they can be better protected),” she said.

The DOH official also reminded the public to always assess their risk and determine if they should wear a face mask or not.

“Mismo na tayo sa ating mga sarili, magkaroon informed decision kung kailan tayo pupunta sa pagtitipon na maraming tao. Kailangan alam anong preventive measures na gagawin natin (We should have an informed decision when we go to a gathering with a lot of people. We need to know what preventive measures we should take),” she added.
