Over 2K aspiring principals obtain eligibility in nat'l qualifying exams for school heads
More than 2,000 examinees have been classified as eligible for the next stage for Principal positions, the Department of Education (DepED) announced.

DepED said that a total of 2,203 or 36.90 percent out of the 5,966 examinees in the first Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH)-aligned National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH) are now eligible for the next stage such as interview and paper screening for the position of Principal I.
“This year’s NQESH employed many firsts in the history of assessing aspiring school heads,” DepED said in a statement.
Aside from the shift to fully remote testing, DepED noted that this year’s test items comprise “conceptual and situational critical thinking questions” aligned with the competencies set out in the PPSSH or DepEd Order No. 024, s. 2020 and were developed using the Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) model as the underpinning framework.
To determine the qualified examinees for the next stage of the selection process, as well as identify those who will undertake further learning and development interventions, DepED explained that the examinees’ responses were “quantitatively analyzed” using the Rasch Model, a procedure identifying the taker’s proficiency and understanding of becoming a school head instead of the usual pass or fail scores.
The four national top performers for this year’s NQESH were Arlen A. Jumamoy, from Kasilak National High School in Panabo City, Region XI (Davao Region); Christian Mespher Hernandez from Toclong Elementary School and Schools Division Office Imus City, Region IV-A (CALABARZON); June Jay Mangente from Salvacion Elementary School in Pio Duran, Albay, Region V (Bicol Region); and Johnathan Guillermo from Francisco Balagtas Elementary School in the National Capital Region, Manila.
DepED said that the release of individual certificates to all test takers, including appropriate Human Resource (HR) actions and Learning & Development (L&D) interventions, will be announced through a subsequent issuance from the Office of the Undersecretary for Human Resource and Development (OUHROD), National Educators’ Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), and Teacher Education Council Secretariat (TECS).
