Cockpit arena operator in Tanauan City killed in ambush

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas -- A cockpit arena operator was killed in an ambush perpetrated by unidentified assailants in Barangay Natatas in this city on Thursday evening, Nov. 11.

The victim, identified as Joselito de Chavez, 47, a resident of San Jose town, was driving his pick-up vehicle in Barangay Natatas when he was attacked, a police report said.

De Chavez, the report added, was on his way home when the suspects appeared and shot him several times.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at Laurel Memorial District Hospital in nearby Barangya Santor.

Investigation disclosed that the victim's vehicle was bumped off by the suspect's vehicle before he was attacked.

Police are still determining the vehicle used by the suspects.

Probers are looking into the possibility that the motive was related to the victim's business.
