Caloocan gov't relocates 37 informal settlers to their new homes
The Caloocan City government on Thursday, Nov. 10, relocated 37 informal settler families (ISFs) from Phase 8, Barangay 176 to their new homes in Barangay 188.
The city government said the families moved to Tala Residences in Brgy. 188, which is under the Tala Development Project of the National Housing Authority (NHA), in coordination with the Housing and Resettlement Office (HARO).
The Tala Development Project was developed to provide housing units to bona fide residents in the city and qualified employees of the Department of Health.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said he aims to continuously implement the city’s relocation and housing projects to help informal settlers, especially those living near or in identified disaster-prone areas in the city.
“Sinisikap po natin na magtuloy-tuloy ang ating mga relocation projects. Ngayong taon po, simula July hanggang sa kasalukuyan, ay natulungan po natin ang 150 na pamilya na mailikas sa mas ligtas na tahanan ( We are trying to continue our relocation projects. This year, from July until now, we have helped 150 families to be relocated to safer homes,” Malapitan said.
“Prayoridad po nating mabigyan ng tahanan ang mga nakatira sa disaster-prone areas, tulad ng mga naninirahan malapit sa waterways, riles, at daanan ng mga sasakyan. Sinisiguro din po natin na ang inyong nililipatang bahay ay ligtas at matibay ( Our priority is to provide homes to those who are in disaster-prone areas, such as those living near waterways, railways, and roads. We will also ensure that the house you are moving in to is safe and durable,” he added.
HARO Officer-in-charge Engineer Maria Numenia Obinagave assurance that the families are being relocated to an area where they can easily have access to basic services such as hospitals, schools, markets, and terminals.
Malapitan also congratulated the housing beneficiaries and urged them to take good care of their new homes.
“Punuin niyo po ito ng pagmamahal at bumuo po kayo dito ng magagandang ala-ala kasama ang inyong pamilya ( Fill it with love and create beautiful memories with your familIes,” Malapitan told the beneficiaries.
