CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Police Regional Office 4-B (Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan area) has reported that 141 New People’s Army rebels in the region have surrendered since January.

The latest surrenderers were three communist guerrillas operating in Occidental Mindoro.
Brig. Gen. Sidney S. Hernia, PRO 4-B chief, identified them as “Ka Efren,” 62; “Ka Bato,” 37; and “Ka Robert,” 37, residents of Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.
Hernia said their surrender on Wednesday, Nov. 9, was facilitated by various police units in Mimaropa.
The surrenderers were members of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya-Mark Anthony Velasco (KLG-MAV) under the Lucio de Guzman Command of the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA-4D), Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC).
“The surrender of these former rebels is another concrete proof of the success of the government’s campaign against terrorism and insurgency under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC),” Hernia said.
Authorities are now processing their enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program to enable them to receive government assistance.
