The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Nov. 10, said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and shear line are expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

Visayas, Mindanao, Palawan, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate may experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ—a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast hemispheres converge.

Batanes may also have cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line—an area where cold and warm air meets.

PAGASA warned those in areas affected by these weather systems to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

The public is also advised to be vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail.
