Palawan is one of the “most desirable" islands in the world, according to United Kingdom-based travel magazine Wanderlust.
"The Philippines is an archipelago with more than 2,000 inhabited islands, yet Wanderlust readers have selected Palawan to be not just be the best in the country, but the best in the world," Wanderlust wrote on its website.
"The scenery here is heaven on earth with sparkling waters and white sand beaches," it added.
The travel magazine also cited Kayangan as one of the most photographed sites in Palawan, as well as Puerto Princesa river for being one of the world’s longest underground rivers.
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco on Thursday, Nov. 10, expressed her gratitude to Wanderlust Magazine for the award.
“On behalf of the Department of Tourism, we thank the readers of Wanderlust Magazine for their love and support for the Philippines! These awards reflect the efforts to revive the tourism industry that are well underway especially because of the Marcos administration’s thrust towards prioritizing tourism development,” she said in a statement.
"Rest assured that we will continue with our mission to herald the Philippines and the Filipino brand to the world, and to ensure the continued sustainability of our islands," Frasco said.
