BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released P80,775,550 in social pension to 53,851 senior citizens in Negros Occidental in the past nine months.
Atty. May Rago-Castillo, public information officer of the DSWD-Western Visayas, said P4,654,500 was released to 3,103 senior citizens here.
The DSWD said a total of P11,785,500 was released to 7,857 beneficiaries in the first district composed of the towns of Calatrava, Don Salvador Benedicto, and Toboso, and the cities of Escalante and San Carlos.
In the second district where Cadiz City, Sagay City, and Manapla are located, 5,745 beneficiaries received P8,617,500.
In the third district, 8,223 beneficiaries from the towns of E.B. Magalona, Murcia, and the cities of Silay, Talisay, and Victorias got P12,334,500.
In the cities of Bago and La Carlota and the towns of Pontevedra, Pulupandan, San Enrique, and Valladolid in the fourth district, P14,529,000 was given to 9,686 beneficiaries.
In the fifth district, P13,372,500 was released to 8,915 beneficiaries in the municipalities of Binalbagan, Hinigaran, Isabela, La Castellana, and Moises Padilla, and the city of Himamaylan.
In the sixth district, 13,425 beneficiaries from the towns of Candoni, Cauayan, Hinoba-an, and Ilog, and the cities of Kabankalan and Sipalay, received P20,137,500.
Castillo said that the release of social pension for the fourth quarter is ongoing. Qualified senior citizens receive P500 per month or P1,500 per quarter from the DSWD.
