“Today we will conduct the distribution of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation o AICS. Parte ito ng mga programa upang protektahan ang mga mahihirap, marhinalisado, at maynoridad nating mga kababayan (This is part of the programs to protect the poor, marginalized, and the minority),” Sandoval said.

“Sisikapin natin na magkaroon ng pantay na oportunidad ang mga minorya sa basic services kagaya ng pagkain, gamot, at iba’t ibang uri ng tulong pinansiyal (We will strive to give the minorities equal opportunities in basic services like food, medicine, and different types of financial aid),” she added.

The AICS program, developed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is a social safety net to support the recovery of families or individuals from unexpected crisis such as illness or death of a family member (fo6.dswd.gov.ph).

There are also 300 children aged three to five years old who received “Nutribuns” on the same day.

Senator Marcos said the Nutribun Feeding Program was reintroduced as there are children who are underweight due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Nutribun is a bread product distributed to children in the 1980’s during the term of her father, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. The program was implemented to address the hunger and malnutrition in the country.

Present at the event were Malabon City Vice-Mayor Ninong Dela Cruz, City Administrator Alexander Rosete, former Congressman Ricky Sandoval, city councilor, city officials and department heads, barangay officials, school principals and teachers.

Senator Marcos also went to Navotas City to give the AICS financial aid to 1,000 senior citizens and PWDs, as well as Nutribuns to 100 children.
