SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 1 (Ilocos) has installed safety barriers and painted pedestrian lanes on the intersection of the Manila North Road in Barangay Pennsylvania-Parian Road and Barangay Sevilla national highway here.
The DPWH-La Union First District Engineering Office headed by District Engineer Jose G. Ginete Jr. said the development of the intersection includes landscaping, asphalt-paving to provide a smoother ride for motorists traveling through, and installation of stainless safety barriers to resists direct impact from vehicles.
For pedestrian safety and facilitate the flow of vehicular traffic, two additional pedestrian lanes were provided in between Barangay Pennsylvania-Parian Road.
In addition, solar street lights were also installed for sufficient lighting for motorists at night.
The project with an P18.6-million budget under the General Appropriations Act of 2022 started last Feb. 18 and completed on May 30.
