Down 13-12 in the deciding frame, the HD Spikers banked on their all-around plays anchored on Rachel Daquis and Roselyn Doria to score the last three points en route to the victory.

The win improved their record to 3-2 to create a three-way tie at third with F2 Logistics and Petro Gazz.

“I told them early in the fifth set, even if we don’t feel good, we have to really make it. That really helped us,” said import Tai Bierria, who paced Cignal with 19 points including 18 kills.

Ces Molina also stepped up with crucial spikes in the fifth frame and wound up with 13 points – all from attacks, while Ria Meneses chipped in 11 points.

Doria also came through with seven points including a single ace, which sealed the victory.

The HD Spikers’ triumph overshadowed the efforts of Lindsay Vander Weide, who exploded for 29 points in a losing effort for the Angels.

Myla Pablo also finished with 17 points, even as Aiza Pontillas and setter Djanel Cheng scored 11 points for Petro Gazz.
