Suspected communist rebels harass PNP detachment in Negros Oriental
Suspected communist rebels attacked a police detachment in Guihulngan City Negros Oriental on Tuesday, Nov. 1 and triggered a brief gun battle.
A police report reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City said the communist rebels started shooting the detachment of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) at around 12:30 p.m. in Barangay Trinidad.
The rebels reportedly positioned themselves at the back portion of the police detachment.
"The 2nd PMFC personnel heard 10 successive gun shots prompting them to retaliate. There was no casualty among PNP personnel and no reported injuries on the enemy side," the report read.
Police forces across the country are currently under full alert status as part of the security measures for the All Saints' and All Souls' Days.
On Friday, Oct. 27, two soldiers died while two others were wounded in an ambush of suspected communist rebels in Abra. The soldiers were deployed in Abra to assist local residents affected by the quake.
