Tanay, Rizal residents were encouraged to participate in the series of activities lined up for the 2022 Hane Festival this month after Malacañang declared Nov. 11 as a special non-working holiday in the town in celebration of its 416th Foundation Day.
With the no-work declaration, residents will be given “full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to the public health measures of the national government,” the executive order states.
The office of Mayor Rafael "Lito" Tanjuatco announced on the local government’s official Facebook page the schedule of activities for the annual thanksgiving festival which traditionally has been a crowd drawer even for former residents who are now residing abroad.
The date also coincides with the celebration of the 416th foundation day of the Parish of San Ildefonso with the church having separate religious activities for the occasion.
Hane Festival has been traditionally marked with parade and cultural presentations highlighting the rich cultural traditions and practices of the people of Tanay.
Activities include the on-going Business Agri- Trade Fair at Tanay Park until Nov. 12 where locally sourced agriculture products and merchandise from local manufacturers are showcased at bargain prices, an art exhibit; Zumba dance contest; cultural programs, fashion shows, beauty pageant and talent contest and martial arts competition also scheduled at Tanay Park and the municipal grounds during the fiesta week.
The Tanay Town Center will also be hosting the Hane Filipiniana Gown Exhibit from Nov. 10 to 13 with local fashion designers showcasing their creations.
From Nov. 7 to 10, a series of medical and dental missions dubbed as "Kalinga sa Tanayans" (Care for the Tanayans) is scheduled in various sites in the municipality as part of the celebration.
A peoples’ parade will also take place on Nov. 12 on major roads and streets in the municipality.
