On Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 9, the 312-stong lower chamber adopted a resolution expressing condolences to the family of the late Javier, a vocalist-composer of Filipino music group APO Hiking Society, who passed away last October 31 at the age of 75.

“Tributes poured in for this legendary music icon who never stopped fighting for what he loved, what he believed in, and what he was passionate about,” read House Resolution (HR) No.530.

“For his distinguished contribution to Philippine pop music, and for all his songs and compositions, Danny Javier will always be remembered with utmost respect and admiration, and his kind of music will leave a smile on the faces of many Filipinos,” it added.

Javier was born on Aug. 6, 1947 in Abuyog, Leyte. Some 22 years later, he would form APO Hiking Society with fellow musicians Boboy Garovillo and Jim Paredes.

"The group was originally called the Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society before becoming popularly known as APO Hiking Society, or simply APO, and became one of the pillars of ‘Original Pilipino Music’ or OPM,” the resolution read.

Throughout their 40-year career, the APO Hiking Society hosted television shows including noontime program “Sang Linggo nAPO Sila", produced 27 best-selling albums, and recorded more than 40 hit songs. They disbanded in 2010.

Javier was also a successful actor, host, and entrepreneur, and is father to four children.

The resolution was introduced by Speaker Martin Romualdez (1st district, Leyte); Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe (2nd district, Zamboanga City); Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan (4Ps Party-list); Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos (1st district); and Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre.
