De Lima says she is 'feeling much better now' after Covid-19 infection

Detained former senator Leila de Lima said she is feeling better after she was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Nov. 6.

“Feeling much better now. Konting ubo na lang po (I only have a slight cough),” said De Lima in a written note from her detention facility in Camp Crame.

She added, “Back to my usual daily routine here, including some physical chores. My spirit greatly buoyed from the many messages of concern, support and love, as printed and sent to me yesterday by my staff.”

Last Nov. 7, De Lima announced that she tested positive for Covid-19 the previous day.

“Tested positive yesterday for COVID-19 from both antigen and RT-PCR tests. When attending recent hearings in the 2 remaining trumped-up charges, with practically jampacked courtrooms, I felt it was just a matter of time before contracting the virus,” she said, referring to the hearings of her drug cases in Muntinlupa courts.

She said a day after attending a hearing on Nov. 4, “I started having colds (running nose), mild cough, itchy throat and joint/body aches short of feverish, which prompted the tests.”

“Now in self-isolation (nothing new for me) in my isolated detention quarters. Taking anti-viral meds as prescribed by my doctors. Resting, reading a novel, praying,” she added.

She asked her staff to alert those who came in contact with her during the hearing including her lawyers, prosecutors and former Bureau of Corrections officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos, friends and allies, court personnel and her security escorts.

“I hope no one else got infected under such a setting,” she said.
