20 ‘Pantawid’ beneficiaries in Bacolod suspended for pawning cash cards

BACOLOD CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Western Visayas has suspended 20 beneficiaries here of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) after they reportedly pawned their cash cards.

Emily Octavio, provincial operations officer for Negros Occidental operations office 1, said the figure was based on their data as of Oct. this year.

Octavio said that monitoring and releasing of cash grants are being conducted every two months.

She said the program does not tolerate such action, thus these households were reprimanded and suspended for their violation.

She said the suspension of these households may cover one or two periods.

For the third offense, she said that a household will be removed from the list of cash grant recipients.

Meanwhile, Octavio said that they have monitored and funded 265,102 Pantawid households in the province, covering two periods.

For the period of February to March, Octavio said that P558,328,500 worth of cash grants were provided to 131,923 households, while P581,397,900 worth of cash grants were given to 133,179 households for the period of April to May.

She noted that the number of beneficiaries every period varies, depending on the compliances of the households.

However, she has no data yet regarding the releasing of cash grants covering the other periods.
