Cherry Turf Philippines to build first rooftop football pitch at SM Cherry Shaw
Look out Filipino football fans!
Cherry Turf Philippines, through Optimal Athletics Inc. (OAI) and venue partner SM Malls, is set to put up the first rooftop football pitch at the SM Cherry Shaw in Mandaluyong City.

As part of its goal of innovating both the football scene in the country and introducing a game-changing mall experience, OAI plans to develop the entire rooftop to create the pitch using FIFA preferred producer LIMONTA Artificial Turf to provide an environment that’s welcoming for both football and non-football enthusiasts.
The entire pitch will have an approximate area of 1,141.87 sqm while the entire playing area will have a 1,002.89 sqm of space ideal for 7-aside games. It will also be installed with a roofing and shading system while the top and side of the pitch is set to be covered by high impact nylon netting very much similar to the Adidas Futsal Park in Tokyo, Japan.
The project, founded by CEO and President, Kevin James Olayvar, and Chairman, Raf Gastador of Optimal Athletics Inc. also plans on creating a league that would become the staple event of the Cherry Turf, making it a place where people can sit back, relax, eat and drink while watching people play football.
It is also viewed to engage existing communities, incite interest and create new groups within the community which was in line with the company’s aim to promote sports, recreational and social activities as well as construct and establish recreational sports facilities to help push the development of sports further with next level ideas.
Also in the pipeline is the creation of its multiple levels for everyone to enjoy from kids to working adults and catering to all levels of experience, beginner, intermediate, and professional.
With this project, OAI hopes to push the innovation in the sports scene in the Philippines, not just in football but in other sports as well while becoming the trailblazers in exploring similar opportunities.
