The Eastern Police District (EPD) has attained the honor of having the “lowest crime rate” and “least occurrence of eight focus crimes” in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the month of October 2022, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

EPD Acting District Director Col. Wilson C. Asueta conferred the awards to the chiefs-of-police of the Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong, and San Juan police forces during the flag raising ceremony on Monday, Nov. 7.
They were each given “Medalya ng Papuri” or commendation medals for their “strong commitment and steadfast service to the multifarious tasks they contributed in the success of the EPD and the whole PNP.”
The eastern metro had “less occurrence of street crimes” and “less occurrence of eight focus index crimes” with zero shooting to death incident, incident of homicide, and murder.
The eight focus index crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, carjacking, carnapping of motorcycle, and rape, according to the PNP.
Based on the PNP's Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS) data for October 2022, the EPD's crime solution efficiency was 91 percent while its crime clearance efficiency was 100 percent for street crimes.
For the eight index crimes, the EPD’s crime solution efficiency was 84 percent while its crime clearance efficiency was 93 percent.
All EPD officers and personnel are urged to continue upholding “excellence, professionalism, and discipline to attain a peaceful and secured Metro East as a safer place to live, work, and do business,” said Asueta in the ceremony.
The ceremony, hosted by the District Logistics Division (DLD) Chief Head Col. Celso M. Rodriguez, was held at the EPD Multi-Purpose Hall, Caruncho Avenue in Pasig City.
Other personnel of the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB), and the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), as well as other departments of the EPD were honored for their accomplishments.
Previously, the EPD was also recognized for having the “lowest number of administrative cases” in Metro Manila from Dec. 21, 2021 to Oct. 15, 2022, by the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) of NCR.
The EPD also recorded zero crime incidents during “Undas.”
"This success manifests the enthusiasm, unity, and dedication of the men and women of this Police District to serve with utmost passion and successfully impede the possibility of any criminal attacks that planned to take advantage of the situation to carry out their nefarious activities. We take into heart to continuously render our service and not turn a blind eye to these crimes," Asueta said in a statement.
