Based on CHO records, 10 of 20 people died from the disease in the last 10 months. All of the fatalities were male.

The figure is higher than the 13 victims reported for the same period last year.

City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite has reminded residents to take precautionary measures days after the onslaught of Tropical Storm Paeng in Zamboanga City.

The CHO distributed prophylaxis and vitamins to residents of 16 health districts whose barangays reported flooding during the height of the typhoon.

The CHO also conducted consultation and for free medication for residents who were exposed to floodwaters.
